Fogeries Update
TEASER: New “Forgeries” LP will cover songs from Terence Trent D’Arby, Amy Winehouse, and David Bowie (among others).
100s of New Headers Added
For the newly redone website, I have been working a little overtime recently and added hundreds of new header images. (See above, and reload the page for more!) Each of these images is from my image archive, from my work as an amateur photographer. Hope you enjoy them. I’ll be adding more soon.
Site Redesign
I just did not have enough on my plate lately, so I added redesigning this site to my to-dos. So what are some big things that changed? The three-column layout is now single. The main menu has slid to the top, below a randomly selected photo from my archive. And the menu items have been streamlined.
The home page still has some work to go. It is so different than before, with much of the content stripped away. What will go there in its place?
I would appreciate any feedback you may have about the new site.
New recording project: Forgeries
So I know what you’re asking: “What’s next, Stone? It’s been *weeks* since your last project.” Well, the wait is over, people! Forgeries—a collection of cover songs, due out later this year.
Check back for more information here soon.
New Protest Song Generator
Are you an aspiring singer-songwriter who is just a little too content with life to write the angry, cutting protest songs you wish you could? Well, then this lyric generator is for you, friend!
New Album, “As If You Were a Song,” Released!
Just in time for the holidays (even if you’re practicing Verdukianism), and just what you wanted in your stocking or whatever: the new Stone Grether full-length audio music extravaganza recording, As If You Were a Song, is now available worldwide. Can I get an “amen”?! Remember this album has lyrics written by a machine, so they are guaranteed to increase your daily mineral intake, or something like that. (Feel free to buy the album and then submit the lyrics to the Pulitzer committee.)
New Generator: Academic Monograph Titles
Tonight I am launching my latest project in my series of automatic generators. This one creates Academic Monograph Titles.
Verson 3 update to Science Fiction Plot Generator
Check out the newly updated science fiction plot generator. It has been a fun little project for me, not to be taken too seriously but still worth a few moments of your time.
New Flickr Set: Miscellaneous Artiness
I have started a new set in Flickr for the photos that do not fit into my other two set: photo montages and iPhone art. This set is titled Miscellaneous Artiness. Despite the somewhat lame name, it should prove exciting over the long run with some unusual things showing up there. The set has started off with three shots I took of the Columbia Gorge yesterday. Very autumnal!
Rainbow over Portland photo montage
Yesterday we had a typical fall day here in Portland: one moment we had gray, showery skies and then the next we had bright sun. Well, at one point there appeared over the eastern side of town the most impressive rainbow I have seen in ages. I grabbed the camera and then produced this photo montage. Even though it does not do the real rainbow justice, I tried to capture some of the majesty of the scene via the montage method. Hope you enjoy it.
Rose photo montage
Here is a new photo montage of a rose growing by my front steps. (By the way, I have begun adding my photo art over at Flickr, but you can always access it via my Art page as well.)
Now on Flickr
I have added my art projects over to Flickr today. So far, so good! Currently there are two sets:

This photo montage circles around the Frank manor house on the campus of Lewis & Clark. Click to enlarge.
Sacagawea photo montage
Here is a new photo montage I have been working on from photos I took of a Sacagawea statue on the Lewis & Clark undergraduate campus. Click to enlarge.
Encapsulating SXSW
I didn’t make this video, but I love it. It encapsulates the whole SXSW experience.
New Instrumentals EP, “CVtrack”
This new EP, CVtrack, may not be the typical work for me, but it represents a good deal of fun.
I put these three loopy instrumentals together for a good buddy at UCLA and figured I’d share them here as well. Hope you get a kick out of them.

Notes on New Record
Working on the new record, and getting pretty excited about it. It’ll probably have 12 songs. The title is “As If You Were a Song,” and the lyrics are from the two lyric generators I built with my pal Judson. The music is all by me. More details soon, including the cover art. UPDATE: Attached is the album cover, and a link to the main info page for the record.
New Lewis & Clark Website Launched!
It was about a two-year project, one I only joined last October, but the new Lewis & Clark website is launched, hooray! You can take a look around here: http://www.lclark.edu. As with any redesign, a number of large bits of tidying up remain but I am happy with the results. My duties included overseeing the content migration into the new content management system. David McKelvey, head of the overall project, wrote a nice summary about it here: http://www.lclark.edu/about/site/.
Hard to find me lately? Well, I’m busy…
Apologies to anyone trying to track me down lately, but I have been even busier than normal. Yes, I say that a lot, but this time I really mean it, ha-ha, as all my time and energy is being poured (lovingly) into rebuilding http://www.lclark.edu from top to bottom, front to back, six ways to Sunday, the whole nine yards. The big relaunch date is [UPDATED] June 17, and while I should be on a more human schedule after then, I am sure there will continue to be serious amounts of post-launch work on the new Lewis & Clark website for a good time to come.
*New* Awards Generator
I am proud to announce the new Automatic Award Generator. If you are feeling a little down, misunderstood, or (gasp) unappreciated, then this is the tool to help you get back in good standing with yourself, your friends, and your enemies. Simply let the machine tell you in what fields you are now recognized as student, scholar, or even world expert.
